Mr. Basil El-Baz is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Carbon Holdings with over 20 years of O&G and petrochemical industry experience. This includes the successful development of the EBIC ammonia project.  Mr. El-Baz led the overall technical and commercial development of the project and played the leading role in securing a comprehensive loan guarantee from US Ex-Im Bank together with a direct loan from a syndicate of commercial banks. More recently, Mr. El-Baz led the team for the Egypt Hydrocarbon Corporation (EHC) low density ammonium nitrate project.  EHC is widely considered as the first major project to close in post-revolution Egypt.   Mr. El-Baz is the recipient of the Africa Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2016. The award follows his ranking (in 2016) as 12th in Choiseul’s Africa 100, which surveys and ranks African business leaders. In 2017, Mr. El-Baz was ranked 1st in the Choiseul’s Africa 100. Mr. El-Baz was also one of six nominees in the category of Young CEO of the Year for the Africa CEO Forum Awards in 2017. Mr. El-Baz graduated from Harvard University where he studied economics and government with a focus on industrial economics.
