Director of R&D
Kaidong Chen is the Director of R&D at Advanced Refining Technologies (ART) since 2015. He leads research and development activities for technologies to invent and commercialize new hydroprocessing catalysts for the global business in ART, and interfaces with Manufacturing, Marketing, Technical Service and Sales departments and provides/receives technology transfer.
Prior to his current assignment, he was the R&D manager of Resid product line at ART between 2008 to 2014, leading Resid hydrotreating and hydrocracking catalyst development efforts. Between 2002 to 2007, Kaidong Chen was a Senior Research Scientist at Chevron focusing on Resid Slurry Hydrocracking catalyst and process development.
Before joining Chevron at 2002 and after getting his Ph. D. degree in Chemistry at 1996, Kaidong Chen worked in Lawrence Berkeley National Lab and then GE Global Research Center as Research Scientist.
