Lionel Rabin

Lionel Rabin was appointed Director Business Development Middle East & North Africa in 2015. He is responsible for developing and executing Air Products’ business strategy in this region. Mr. Rabin joined Air Products in 1989 in the Applied Research & Development division. He undertook various positions from applied research engineer, to commercial technology lead, working on various industrial gases applications serving the energy, food process, metal, pulp and paper, and glass industries.

In 1993, Mr. Rabin moved into the merchant business (Bulk and Packaged gases), selling industrial gases and equipment to Southern European market. He later moved into a management role in the sale of new gas applications and services, including water treatment, solid waste incineration, and air emission recovery, prior to expanding his commercial experience in a move to lead the European Environmental Applications commercial team from 1996 to 1999.
In 1999 Mr. Rabin moved to Air Products headquarters in the USA and joined the HyCO (Hydrogen & Carbon Monoxide) division to develop large hydrogen onsite investment opportunities in North America.

Mr Rabin moved to the UK in early 2003 to undertake Tonnage Gases asset management responsibilities.

In 2006, Mr. Rabin was asked to lead the development of new on-site business opportunities in the Middle East comprising the development of new strategic partnership and structuring new project Joint Venture companies in the MENA region (Oman, UAE, KSA and Egypt). After completing 6 years of successful business growth he was asked to undertake the Business Management responsibilities for the MENA region.

Mr. Rabin earned his undergraduate engineering degree from Nantes University of Technology (France) and holds a M.S. in Chemical Engineering degree from INSA – Institut National des Sciences Appliquées of Toulouse– Toulouse University (Hons).
